This week, our home renovation is nearly 99% complete. The carpentry only needs to do some final touch up and we’re ready to move into our new flat next week.
And last weekend, our new furnitures have finally arrived and most of them are from IKEA. Yes, we love IKEA (no shame!). What not to love? It’s conveniently versatile and affordable.
In our case, we experienced buying both directly and online from IKEA because we split the purchase into two separate transactions. This is because when we initially went to their store, some of the items from our wish list were sold out. We needed to wait for a few days until they restocked and then we decided to purchase the rest through their website.
What we got from IKEA (bought in store):
- BILLY bookcase and OXBERG glass doors (3)
- LISABO coffee table
- JOKKMOKK dining set (dining table + 4 chairs)
- ALEX drawer unit (3) and LINNMON table top (2)
- BRIMNES dressing table
- SILVERÅN mirror cabinet
- NORDLI bedside table (2)
What we got from IKEA (bought online):
- FEJKA artificial potted plant
- IKORNNES standing mirror
- LENNART drawer unit
- KARLSTAD sofa
We engaged with IKEA delivery and installation service for all the bulky items. The delivery and installation costs us one fifth of the total purchased items, but I thought it’s worth it to save us the trouble.
The items that we bought online came first on Saturday.
My husband and I assembled LENNART drawer unit and IKORNNES standing mirror ourselves because those are just small items.
From our online purchase, we only engaged the installation team to assemble the KARLSTAD sofa. There was just one person working on the assembly and it took less than 30 minutes for him to finish. Fast and efficient!
And then on Sunday, the different installation team came to deliver and assemble our in store purchase which was the rest of all the bulky items on the list above, except placing LINNMON table top on top of ALEX drawer units (we’re planning to do it ourselves later after all the touch-up painting has done).
There were two persons woking on the assembly and it took them almost 2 hours to finish everything.
Both installation team (Saturday and Sunday) worked fast and professionally. They even helped us put everything in place and cleaned up all the mess afterwards. I was still impressed until now. Think of all the hassle we could have gotten into if we assemble everything ourselves. Phew!
It was not our first experience with IKEA delivery. Previously, we also engaged with the delivery service for our sinks and kitchen storage system while the renovation was still ongoing. But it was the first time for us engaging their installation service. Overall, I must say we are happy and satisfied with their products and service. Our home now looks almost complete, thanks to the range collection of wood and white colours of their furnitures which are just what we love.
Now that all the furnitures are beautifully laid out, we just need to do one final step from our exciting moving journey, that is, to ACTUALLY move in.
