HDB Spring Cleaning Checklist + Free Printable

Spring is more than just warmer days and flowers in bloom. In four seasons countries, people are doing spring cleaning to freshen up their homes and get ready for the upcoming seasons ahead.

Here in Singapore, and many other countries, spring cleaning is usually associated with the welcoming of Lunar New Year. It is a tradition that encourages people to get a new start and fresh hopes for the New Year.

During this season, people often visit their relatives and friends’ houses as a way to express good wishes to each other. This is why spring is also the best time to do a deep home cleaning.

The fastest and most efficient way to do a spring cleaning is to have a solid checklist as a guide and work on it. This is especially important if you’re leading a busy lifestyle, like how most people in Singapore are.

Having a spring cleaning checklist is also a great way to keep track of your cleaning process. You don’t want to end up missing a spot or two, or even cleaning the same things twice (because sometimes you just don’t know that your family member has cleaned it).

The best part about having a printed checklist is that you don’t need to work on it all by yourself. Pin it on the fridge or wall and get your family involved and together you can cross the list faster.

I made two colours (black & white and pink) that you can choose according to your liking.

I also give blank lists on the checklist to allow you to fill up with your own task. Every HDB is unique and different, so I believe you will have your own things that you may want to add to the list. Things like your scooter, maybe? Or kids or pets’ supplies if you have one.

The checklist includes supplies list that will be helpful to kickstart your spring cleaning journey. Before you begin cleaning, think of all the supplies that you’re going to use. The supplies listed here are general but you can add supplies as needed. For example, if you’re planning on painting a wall, you can add paint, brush, masking tape, or paint bucket onto the list.

When is the Good Time to Do Spring Cleaning?

If you’re aiming to get your deep home cleaning done by Chinese New Year, ideally you may want to start cleaning your HDB 3 to 4 weeks in advance. You can start by working on small tasks first on weekdays that you can complete in 10 to 20 minutes and work on bigger tasks during the weekends.

With a good checklist on hand, you can start your spring cleaning and work on it at your own pace. It is not impossible to get your spring cleaning done in a week or even a day! The key is to stick to the checklist and try your best to cross off as many lists as you can.

How to Do Spring Cleaning Efficiently

If you want your spring cleaning to be efficient and fast, apart of having a checklist and have your cleaning supplies ready before you start, it’s important to be focus when you’re aiming to finish a task and don’t bother to do other thing until you finish with that one task. Most of the time, it’s the urge to do something else that will disrupt the efficiency of your cleaning time.

Last but not least, if you use my printable as your guide to spring clean your HDB this year, feel free to let me know if it works for you or if you add anything else onto the list at all. You can also tag me on social media to talk about it. I’d love to hear your spring cleaning journey!
