How I Keep Vases and Artifical Plants that are Not in Use

Idle vases and fake plants… where to keep them?

I have few simple, small and inexpensive vases and fake plants in my home that are cute and versatile, but I don’t always use them all. I like to only display what looks good at the moment and rotate them whenever the mood strike so I always have some vases that are not in use lying around.

If you like to bring in flowers and greenery, I’m sure you too have few pretty vases in your home. But where and how do you keep them when they are not currently in use?

Put Them into One Container Together

I keep mine into one container together instead of letting them stand one by one by itself. The reason is because vases are generally fragile and if you are not being careful, you may accidentally drop one. Keeping them in one container together will minimise the chance of accidental damaging the vases and making a mess. It will be painful to see a vase broken, especially if it’s a precious one.

I also keep the fake plants inside the same container. To make sure the plants and flowers stay in their best shape, do not squeeze them on top of each other but rather let them stay loose and keep them stand upright if possible.

Ideally, I try not to keep too many idle vases and fake plants so I can fit what I have into just one container. If you have more than what one container can handle at a time, maybe it’s worth asking yourself whether you really need that many vases and fake plants in your home if you don’t use them.

Keep It Out of Dust and Dampness

However, if you really have many vases and fake flowers that are not in use but you still want to keep, get a second container and split the vases and fake flowers between the two. Make sure the fake flowers are kept loose and not tightly pressed to avoid getting deformed when you keep it for a long period of time.

Vases and fake plants or flowers tend to get dusty easily if they are not being in use. To avoid that, I keep them inside the closed door cabinet in my living room.

Before you store all the unused vases, make sure each and one of them is clean and completely dry. If there is even one tiny drop of water remain inside the vase, it can turn into mould and it can ruin your whole entire stuff inside the same storage. If necessary, throw in few silica gels that will help absorb moisture inside your cabinet.

The same thing goes to the artificial greenery. Wipe clean the flowers or plants and make sure they are dry before you store them to avoid dampness.

Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoy this post and please make yourself at home 🙂
