Here’s your guide to the popular household cleaning spray “Ochiochi V” series from Daiso, along with its usage tips and effectiveness.
Daiso, Japan’s most beloved 100-yen shop, is known not just for its affordability but also for its wide selection. When it comes to cleaning supplies, Daiso offers an extensive range of products that can help keep every corner of your home sparkling clean.
Among them, one of the favourite products among consumers in Japan is the “Ochiochi V” series household cleaning spray. It’s recommended for cleaning various types of dirt in areas where you prefer not to use surfactants.
Daiso -Ochiochi V- Series
Ochiochi V (落ち落ちV) is Daiso’s original brand that offers convenient and efficient cleaning products at an affordable price. The Ochiochi V series is easily recognisable by its striking logo featuring a smiling face with a thick eyebrow resembling a bold letter V, and a crown on top.
Daiso -Ochiochi V- series offer a variety of products that can help you clean different types of dirt.
In this post, I’ll introduce and explain each of the top-performing cleaning sprays from Daiso -Ochiochi V- series to the best of my knowledge.
In a nutshell, here’s what each cleaner does based on its cleaning properties:
- Alkaline Electrolysed Water (アルカリ電解水) ➔ general cleaning
- Sesqui Cleaner (セスキー) ➔ remove grease
- Sodium Bicarbonate Cleaner (重曹) ➔ mildly scrub tough stains
- Citric Acid Cleaner (クエン酸) ➔ descale limescale buildup
Alkaline Electrolysed Water (アルカリ電解水)

✅ You can use it on: general surfaces, floors, countertops, stainless steel, children’s toys.
Despite the words “Alkaline Electrolysed Water” being written on the packaging in Japanese, here in Singapore, this product is marketed simply as “household cleaner.” But there’s a good reason for it — it is incredibly versatile for a wide range of household chores.
Alkaline electrolysed water is produced through the process of electrolysing water, which separates it into alkaline and acidic components. This composition gives it its cleaning properties and makes it effective for various cleaning purposes.
Daiso’s alkaline electrolysed water is made entirely of water, so you can use it with peace of mind for cleaning various places. It is eco-friendly, non-toxic, and can be safely used even without wearing gloves.
Since I have a toddler at home, I use this solution every day and everywhere because it cleans effectively without the need for harsh chemicals. It’s suitable for daily wiping and general cleaning purposes (though not for heavy stains).
Sesqui Cleaner (セスキー)

✅ You can use it on: greasy buildup on various hard surfaces, stovetops, grills, accumulated dirt on range hoods, and even on clothes.
Sesqui Cleaner has higher cleaning power than the Alkaline Electrolysed Water so it’s great for tackling slightly stubborn stains.
Sesqui cleaner is a type of cleaning product commonly found in Japan. It is a versatile alkaline cleaner made from a mixture of sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide. It is known for its strong cleaning power so you can use it to remove some dirt that can’t be cleaned with just alkaline electrolysed water.
Sesqui cleaner is especially useful for removing greasy buildup on various hard surfaces such as stovetops, grills, or accumulated dirt on range hoods. It can also be used to clean oily stain on clothes.
However, due to its potent cleaning properties, avoid using it on porous surfaces or materials prone to rusting, as it may etch or corrode them. Before applying it to delicate surfaces, always test it on a small, hidden area first to prevent any potential damage or corrosion.
Sodium Bicarbonate Cleaner (重曹)

✅ You can use it on: a wide range of surfaces including kitchen countertops, sinks, stovetops, and bathroom tiles.
Another handy item to have from Daiso’s Ochiochi V series is its sodium bicarbonate cleaner a.k.a. baking soda.
Baking soda is a mild abrasive cleaner with deodorising properties. While baking soda powder is well-known for its cleaning abilities, dissolving it in water can be a bit cumbersome. Since this cleaner already comes in a spray bottle, it is ready to use immediately.
Instead of spraying directly onto the surface, you can also spray the cleaner on a dry, clean microfibre cloth and then use the cloth to wipe on stains. This way, you can prevent overspray and reduce the risk of damaging sensitive surfaces.
Sodium bicarbonate cleaner is ideal for cleaning everything in the house that requires mild scrubbing on tough stains. In the kitchen, I use this baking soda spray to clean appliances like refrigerators and microwaves.
It also works well in removing limescale around toilets, bathrooms, and sink areas, making it an all-purpose cleaner. A quick polish with Daiso’s sodium bicarbonate cleaner will leave your kitchen and bathroom spotless.
Citric Acid Cleaner (クエン酸)

✅ You can use it on: sinks, faucets, showerheads, and other bathroom fixtures. It’s also great for descaling appliances like coffee makers and kettles.
Citric acid is a natural, acidic compound derived from citrus fruits. It’s especially effective for removing mineral deposits and soap scum. It also has disinfectant properties.
You can use citric acid cleaner to clean water stains around the sink and faucet. Spray it on the desired areas, then wipe with a soft cloth or rinse it with water.
In warm and humid environments like Singapore, bacteria can thrive more easily. To prevent the growth of bacteria in corners or drains, and to prevent odours, a final wipe-down with this cleaner is recommended for your kitchen.
You can also spray the surfaces and leave it for 15 minutes to disinfect. Thanks to the disinfectant effect of citric acid cleaner, it helps keep things hygienic around the house.
Why You Might Want to Try Daiso’s Ochiochi V Cleaning Sprays
Daiso Ochiochi V cleaner series, particularly its spray-type cleaners, offers great convenience. Packed in a bottle, it’s easy to spray and wipe away dirt in seconds. Choose the suitable cleaner depending on the type of dirt, and it will effectively tackle your everyday cleaning chores.
While these products excel at tackling different types of dirt, it’s advisable to conduct a patch test on a small area first if you’re unsure. Here’s a list of items or surfaces you should avoid using them on:
❌ Do NOT use them on: items that cannot be hand washed, cannot be wiped off with a damp cloth, lacquerware, leather products, silk products, aluminium, copper, brass, precious metal, jewellery, gold leaf, varnished furniture, furniture with surface treatments, glasses, painted surfaces of automobile.
Please be aware that while these cleaners are effective for daily cleaning, they may not be able to remove heavy stains. However, they can be an excellent option for gentler cleaning, as they do not contain surfactants.
