5 creative LEGO ideas to organise your home and simplify life
If you’re looking for ways to reuse your LEGO pieces, especially if your kids have outgrown them or they’re no longer being played with as much, there are plenty of simple ideas you can try.
1. Using LEGO bricks to create a storage container

A simple way to use LEGO bricks is to build a small box container for everyday items. Freely adjust the size depending on what you need to store, from stationery to small bits and pieces.

You can line the bottom of the box with smooth pieces to cover the LEGO studs and create a flatter inside surface.
This is an easy DIY idea that turns spare bricks into something functional. It adds a playful, decorative touch while helping keep your space organised.
2. Building bookends using LEGO bricks

If you have a bookshelf that feels a little plain, LEGO bricks can be an easy way to add colour and character. You can create DIY bookends using a simple L-shaped design to keep your books neatly in place.

To make it, build two matching supports with a flat base and strong sides for stability. Adjust the height and thickness depending on the size of your books. Position them on each end of your books to keep them neat and upright.
3. Creating a simple LEGO stand for devices or books

This is a useful idea if you only occasionally need a stand for your phone, tablet, or books while reading or cooking, but don’t want another fixed item at home.

You can build a flat base and an angled support using a few LEGO bricks to hold your device or book in place. Once you’re done, you can take it apart and reuse the bricks elsewhere. One less item you need to commit to owning.
4. Making a key organiser with LEGO pieces

This is by far my favourite way to repurpose LEGO bricks! I use them to create a simple, fun key station at home. It keeps keys visible, organised, and easy to grab when needed.
Attach keyrings to LEGO pieces with holes and use them as keychains. The LEGO base acts as the key station, where the pieces function as hooks or holders for your keys.
You can also use smooth LEGO tiles to stick labels or names for each key. This way, you always know which key belongs to what.
5. Turning LEGO figures into cord holders

LEGO minifigures can double as playful cord holders for your everyday charging cables. Their little hands are perfect for holding small cords in place, keeping your space neat and tangle-free.
Simply place a LEGO figure near your charging spot with double sided foam tape or putty. Adjust the position of the hand so the cable can be held securely but easy to remove when needed.
